Glad you asked!
Unfortunately, for pretty much the last couple of months, the answer has been “not much”.
Due to hitting the deep, dark heart of my gender transition, I have been pulled away from my producer duties (and to be honest, most of my life). Things are improving, though, and I’m excited to get back to playing, chatting, and editing audio at work while I write reams and reams of high-test engineering code.
I want to pass on a sincere apology to all of our fans who have been wondering where we’ve been. We’re still here, even if life sometimes gets in the way. And we will continue to work on getting Souls of Steel out the door, as well as going to various cons on the East Coast and the Midwest.
So do not fret – we should be around for at least the rest of 2015!
Your still slightly frazzled producer, Dana
Over the next couple of months, we’ll be releasing episodes from our two, ongoing, parallel Souls of Steel games. Souls of Steel is an Apocalypse World hack that simulates ace pilot military dramas like Battlestar Galactica and Gundam, designed by Elle, Dana, and Yanni of the cast. These campaigns are playtests, but the game is in mid-beta at this point, so we expect them to go relatively smoothly.
If you’ve got any questions about Souls of Steel you can contact us here; our timetable is roughly:
- Finish the campaigns.
- Make any changes to the rules and add any critical GM and player instructions.
- Create a G+ group and release an open beta there.
- Kickstart a full rulebook in 2015.
Right now, we’re gearing up for our campaign playtest of Elle and Dana’s Souls of Steel. The first couple of episodes are in the pipe and now all we have to do is edit them and get them out to you.
Episodes will start going up before too long. In the meantime, you can see the teasers for the game being posted over on G+.
We’ll be starting a group and making playtest materials available within the next few weeks, so stay tuned!
PK Sullivan has some thoughts on war in tabletop role-playing games, partially inspired by Elle and Dana’s *Souls of Steel*.
Dana was recently on The Jank Cast, talking about game design and her recent selection as a Game Chef finalist.

Our web host is currently experiencing some issues due to a crash and the long process of restoring user data. This is causing our server to be very slow; your podcatcher or feed aggregator may report that we’ve timed out or are unreachable, but we’re still here!
We are waiting for them to solve the problems; if they are unable to, we may have to move to different hosting.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Because our backlog is getting thin, and because most people are busy for the next couple of weeks, we’re going to hold off releasing an episode until after the holidays.
Happy holidays to all of our listeners! Hope your travels are safe, your parties are awesome, and your 2014 is even better than your 2013!
Our guest host/Story Time co-star, Matthew Highcove, has also just made an appearance on the Haste! podcast over at Obsidian Portal.
Go give it a listen!
