IPMM 112: Gates, Houses, and Pools

“Nintendo Power was totally objective!”

In which an exasperated once (and possibly future) game developer goes on a rant about the recent and ongoing catastrophe for women in gaming in particular and tech in general.

Then we decide what Harry Potter houses we’d be in and talk about the awesome new-ish Disney XD cartoon, Gravity Falls.

(Among other things.)

This was literally recorded yesterday (because timely!) so it doesn’t fit into the Souls of Steel AP continuity.

IPMM 111: Souls of Steel – Fist of Apollo Episode 1

This is one of two parallel playtest campaigns of Souls of Steel, Elle, Dana, and Yanni’s new game (see this post for more info.) The campaigns will be running in parallel for the next couple of months.

In this campaign, we have:

  • James T. as Feral Black, the Specialist [Scout]
  • Joanna as Gram the Veteran [Quartermaster]
  • Patrick as Yx the Misfit [Test-Pilot]
  • Duncan as Chet the Rookie [Medic]
  • Dana as Artemis the Leader [Sniper]
  • and Will as Command

We’re working out a new intro, we’ve got new people producing, and Dana is still trying to figure out her new voice (the AP was recorded a while ago), but overall we think things will be quite entertaining.

…and we’re back with Souls of Steel!

Over the next couple of months, we’ll be releasing episodes from our two, ongoing, parallel Souls of Steel games. Souls of Steel is an Apocalypse World hack that simulates ace pilot military dramas like Battlestar Galactica and Gundam, designed by Elle, Dana, and Yanni of the cast.  These campaigns are playtests, but the game is in mid-beta at this point, so we expect them to go relatively smoothly.

If you’ve got any questions about Souls of Steel you can contact us here; our timetable is roughly:

  • Finish the campaigns.
  • Make any changes to the rules and add any critical GM and player instructions.
  • Create a G+ group and release an open beta there.
  • Kickstart a full rulebook in 2015.
